Hachnassas Sefer Torah (Torah dedication) (May 30, 2004)

May 30, 2004 was a momentous occasion in my family, when my parents dedicated a community sefer torah. The torah is in memory of Babbe - Sally Pollan, my mother's mother who passed away nearly two years ago - and her parents, who were murdered during the Holocaust. Many people turned out for the short procession carrying the torah to Young Israel, a program during which Rabbi Broyde, Rabbi Feldman, my mother, and Mendel spoke, and a really nice lunch catered by Quality Kosher.

Procession along Lavista Road... Zeyda (my father's father) is carrying the torah, Mendel
is in the hat on his left, and Natan (partially blocked) is on his right. (click on photo for larger view)

At the luncheon: Tante Michele, Aunt Nina, me, and Uncle Chaim (click on photo for larger view)
